Cabrillo National Monument

While recently visiting with my California son and family in San Diego I also got to see my wife as she was in a two week visit from the winter in New England.

We took a ride over to Point Loma section of town and visit Cabrillo National Monument.  This is a fee based area that my Senior Pass gets me in for free.

It was an excellent afternoon with bright sun and blue skies.

Spring flowers are popping up all over the south west and with San Diego getting more than its share of rain flowers along the ocean walk were in full bloom.

It’s an excellent time of year to explore and capture the beauty of the wild flowers.

Not always do you get to see the wild flowers mixed as in the picture above, as it makes for a nice photo opportunity.

The trail isn’t that long but the cool weather we have been happening made the afternoon sun feel exceptionally nice.

If your in the San Diego area, this ocean side is a great stop to see the tidal pools.  From the top of Point Loma at the Visitors Center there you will have the views of downtown San Diego, and the busy harbour.  You may see on if the navy ships based in the city moving through the harbor.
